"Christie Hennessy, folks! How about that! Big hand now! Two big hands! Wasn’t that something? And you ain’t heard nothing yet..."
When Christie Hennessy passed away in 2007, Ireland lost one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. A unique performer, he had for some time, been planning a special new performance telling the story of his life and work to premiére at The Axis Arts Centre in Ballymun. Sadly this was not to be, but axis’ director Ray Yeates, writer Seán McCarthy and well-known RTÉ presenter and broadcaster Aonghus McAnally have continued to work together to produce this new cabaret-theatre piece about Christie’s life which runs from 1st - 12th March 2011 (with previews from 24th-26th February).
