Thinking of christie and remembering august 29 1991 when Christie did a free concert insiamsa tire for live broadcast on a radio programme I was preetning on RTE 1 at the time.

That morning we brought Christie back to the streets intralee where he was born- they all remembered him, though by a different name ! All the old neighbours piled out , Christie was mortified, shy , modest , self deprecating .

That afternoon when he performed his neighoburs sat in the audience.

they knew , as I did we were in the presence of greatness, gentility and genius.

I remember the date so vividly becuase my brother Aidan was killed in a car crash while in work the following day.He was 25 ,loved Arlo Guthrie and Christie .

May Christie and Aidan rest in peace safe in teh arms of St Joseph the worker.

Hi Robbie Dunn here I am an Irish singer songwriter based here in Oz. I have been struck by the interviews Christy gave especially about his time in school and the point of his leaving. I could not write properly when I left school I have since learned to a reasonable degree.
I have show the interview to a lot of friends and everyone of them have been struck by his love honesty and openness.
He was and is a force for gooness in the universe his spirit and beauty will live on. "God makes funny looking angels"

Christie is remembered everyday by many, his talent, music and incredible inspiration sound loud and clear even here so far from the beloved island. I thought of sending loving hug to his family as i listen to Christie this morning.

I only heard of Christie Hennessy two days ago while on holiday in Fermanagh. My friend’s boyfriend flew me down to spend time with her and he was playing some of Christie’s songs on an island in the Lough and listening to them in the car. He spoke so highly of the music and had such admiration for him. I fell in love with his music and style of songwriting. I wish I’d heard of him earlier because he was brilliant. I am sorry for your loss and I pray that you are all well.

I was coming home late last night and I heard the duet from CHristie and Aled Jones ’Roll back the clouds’. I had never heard this before and I must say it touched me deeply, so much so I felt i had to come here and tell you. I’m very sorry for all your loss and while I know I am terribly late in offering my sympathies please know they are genuine. I really was blown away by that song, as I said it really ’feels’ important. Thanks for that beautiful music.

Christy was an amzing talent - able to touch the heart with his music in the blink of an eye. The world is a sadder place without him and all the music he hadn’t yet made. Only happy for the music and joy he has given to the world.

May the angels carry you high and happy Christy!!

I’ve only just come across the works of Christie through my mother and I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss of Christie. I’m not sure where he is now but I’m sure he’s happy.

Thanks and God be with you,
Phillip.

Why do I have tears in my eyes? I never met the guy and haven’t played the one cassette tape and one CD of his I have for a good while now ... probably years in fact. But what I heard back then told me all I needed to know.

I was shuffling around idly on You Tube tonight, wasting time ... when I suddenly got the urge to search for Christie Hennessey (yeah, I couldn’t even get the spelling right). Next thing I know, I learn that my pal of many a mile on the road has passed away.

I feel like I let you down somehow.

A touch of class, a soul of gold,
a voice of comfort, a story told,
A man of Ireland, a man of heart,
a part of history, he played his part,

Rest now Christy, look down on us,
as we still listen, and make a fuss,
You belong with the gods above,
but down below we all still love.

As Luka once said "sometimes words are not enough"...how true this is to describe Christie.
My father introduced me to Christie at a young age and i have been following his glittering career ever since.
We miss you Christie, you will never be forgotten and your music is timeless.
Brian Furey said it best. "Christie is not a legend, he’s way beyond that. He’s an artist.....and artists live forever".

Christie was a true gentleman in every sense of the word, and a man who really makes us all proud to be Irish.

R.I.P Christie.

Hi

I just want to let you know how much Christie’s music means to me and my family. My father passed away recently and he loved his music very much. I have recently been listening a lot to Christie’s music, it makes me sad and happy at the same time as it evokes so many great memories of my dad.

Thanks

I only recently discovered the incredible talents of Christie Hennessy and went to learn more about this remarkable song writer and singer. Sadness came over me to read of his passing. Yet, as I listen to his music, I find myself discovering a very sensitive soul who know how to touch our hearts, a gift he has left us via his recorded wonderful music. His songs "Maybe" and "After All This Time" from the Stories for Sale blew me away.

As a Texan and 60 year old, I grew up with Roy Orbison as my singing idol. I sense that many of my Irish and British cousins have enjoyed Christie equally as well and miss him as much as I miss Roy.

God bless Christie’s family!!

I have only just learned of the the passing of Christie and wish to express my sincere sympathy with Christie’s wife and family.
We first saw him in Wales back in the early 90’ when he was on tour with Jimmy Nail - Christie was the best that night! Our favourite
song is ’You Are the Girl’ which always leaves a tear in my eye and reminds me so much of my wife.
Thank you Christie and sing a song or two for the angels!
