Christy may have passed away but he has left the legacy of a beautiful voice and music that will be discovered by generations to come.

Although his family only know the real Christy, I can at least say his public demeanour was an exception to cult of celebrity which many of us feel a disconnect with.

Christy remains a role model to me and if my young son can have the integrity and humility of Christy I will be very proud.

A lovely, lovely man.

Not alone did his music affect me, but his charming child-like banter always made me laugh.
His unique style / music made him an exceptional talent, whose flame was extinguished way before it’s time.
He was an oasis in to-day’s somewhat barren desert of music.
He is, and will always be, sadly missed.

Thank you, Christie

My husband, Geoff and a friend of ours, Phil, attended a Jimmy Nail concert in Newcastle several years ago. Until then we’d never heard of Christie, who was the support act that evening. From the moment we saw and heard him we were all hooked and talked about his music all the way home before hitting the shops first thing next morning to buy all the CDs we could find. These CDs are now always in our car and we never tire of hearing them. A truely talented songwriter and brilliant raconteur whose warm personality must have won him a whole new army of fans that night. So sad to think we will never see him in concert again but so happy we at least saw him once and will love his music forever. Sincere condolences to his wife and family.

It was with sadness that I learnt of the death of Christie. I knew one or two songs, but didn’t really know anything about the man.
A programme I saw recently about him showed him to be a truly humble and beautiful human being. I was completely disarmed by his honesty and touched by the esteem he was held in by everyone who knew him.
I wanted to add my voice too - even though I never knew him, that programme made me sad that I didn’t.

I left a message when I first heard the sad news of Christie’s death, but I felt moved to leave another message now. I have been listening to Christie’s ’Lord of Your Eyes’ album on the way into work this morning and once again the beauty and simplicity of his songs has moved me to tears. What a sad loss, but how lucky we are that his songs sing on.

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Christie. He was an immense influence on Irish music. I was lucky enough to have been persent for what I think was one of his finest ever performances, at the Civic Theatre in Tallaght. It was entertainment at it’s finest. A great man, the world is poorer for his passing - May he rest in peace.

On behalf of my son Alan Mullen and I, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to Christie’s family. I was fortunate enough to see Christie at the Helix a couple of years ago and had a wonderful experience. My son Alan has always been a big fan. We are at present searching for Christie’s single ’ A price for Love’ as Alan, who lives in Canada would love to add it to his collection.
He is and will continue to be sadly missed.

I was introduced to Christie’s music sailing near Antarctica in 1989- A bootlegged live recording made somewhere in darkest Co. Cork - or so we were told. It got thrashed to death (along with the Pogues and others). I wonder what the albatrosses made of it all as Chrisrie’s magical voice was blasted from the PA on the foredeck but we had a ball.

I am greatly saddened to hear of his passing - we shall not see his like again. But his music and songs live on and they will continue to be appreciated and loved.

I am 26 years old and have listend to Christy since i was twelve. Whatever musical taste i sampled growing up, i always had "The Rehersal" at the top of my cd stack (I stole it from my father back then).
I had only ever known Christy by his unique voice and powerfull lyrics, but have recently seen video footage of interviews with him. He was a gentleman and one of my biggest regrets is never to have met him or seen him perform.
