Watched Christie’s programme last night on RTE, it was deeply moving. I went to see him several times, the last in Downpatrick, where I met him and exchanged a few words. He was a beautiful person, so modest, funny and genuine, his whole persona was so uplifting. I never thought I could be so moved by a TV programme - I couldn’t stop crying! I just can’t image his family’s grief and sense of loss. He will be truly missed.

I watched the documentary on Christie last night and I found it very moving. I always knew some of his music but nothing about him personally. He was a really lovely person from what I saw, so humble for such a talented man.

Last night (4th August) I watched a documentary on Christie, and while I have known and enjoyed his music for a long time, I did not know much about the man. He was one of life’s true gentlemen and my big regret is that I never saw him perform. He has left his family and fans with a wonderful heritage. May he rest in peace.

I have recently got engaged and in my search for a ’first dance song’ somebody recommended I listen to ’I will’. I can’t believe what a beautiful song it is. My parents used to listen to Christie’s music when I was a child, and I always loved his voice and lyrics, every song is like listening to somebody tell a story. Hearing ’I will’ has reminded me what an amazing singer he really is. I say is, not was, because I really believe that he lives on as a singer every time he touches someone with his music as he has touched me this evening.

Just watched show on RTE tonight, best thing I’ve seen in years. Thanks be to God for Sky+, I was palying a match and set it before I went to work.

I’m 33, married with three kids - before all that happened I was a big fan of Christie and my party piece was to sing ’Roll Back The Clouds’, a song my father always wanted me to sing at any get together, at the time fairly embarassing for a teenager I might add.

Tonight brought it all back to me, I haven’t sung that song in years, my dad was 70 lately and I’m going to refresh the lyrics in my head and have it at the ready for the next occasion, I know he’ll get a great surprise and enjoyment from it.

Through him I know his song will let me treat my Dad some night he’s not expecting it.

That is Chrisites invaluable legacy to me.

On a whim I decided to tape tonight’s tribute on RTE 1 and I am glad I did. I will be checking out Christy’s music as I don’t really know much about him... but what really came across in that tv programme was the man’s simplicity and decency. He was that rarest of things in today’s dreadful world, A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING. God bless you.

I have logged onto Christie’s website (for the 1st time) after watching the tribute documentary on RTE tonight (Aug 4th), as I was moved by the personality of the man.
Prior to watching the documentary, I didnt know alot about Christie other than his few big hits & his reputation as a gifted songwriter. However, the humility and sincerity of the man overpowered me as I learned more about him tonight. His gentle modest nature was refreshing, whilst sometimes bringing a tear to my eye.
I have a feeling of regret now that I wasnt more aware of Chrisie’s genius while he was still with us. I fear that we will have few more characters as beautiful as Christie. RIP.

I grew up with Christy Hennessy always playing in our house. We always bought my Dad one of his tapes for Christmas & Birthdays. Even as a child i loved his voice & songs. I checked him in when i worked in Cork Airport back in 2000. Just watched the documentary on RTE & it was very moving. He seemed like such a lovely man & i’m sure he is resting in a peaceful place now.
