It is 19 years today since my Dad passed away and not a day goes by when I don’t think about him and I am sure the Ross family are feeling the very same since Christie passed away and I can say that it does not get any easier. I would especially like to see something on Television dedicated to Christie coming up to his anniversary in December, he certantly deserves it, with all the beautiful music and songs that he wrote. My regards to all of his beautiful family and especially his Daughter Hermione. I am really pushing this one as I would not like to see Christie’s anniversary come up and he would not be represented by someone or something and even RTE could show "The Messenger Boy" again. Keep Well all of you.

I am shocked and saddened at the passing of this legendary Irish singer and poet. ’A Year in the Life’ has been a greatly treasured album for me since it first came out with its haunting, dark, yet spiritual themes. You will be remembered and not forgotten, dear Mr. Hennessy.

I think I may just have sent a message to the wrong website. I would just like to say I miss Christie so much. He was such a beautiful man. The first time I heard his music was at the Town Park in Tralee, I think it may have been 92 or 93, I had just returned from the US and to be honest I had never even heard of Christie. The hair stood on the back of my head when I heard his voice. I can honestly say that he never failed to have that affect on me, at any of the live performances I attended after this event. He was such a pure and utter gentleman, with a fantastic sense of humour, a way with words, and o my God, what a voice. He would make you laugh and cry in the same minute. I miss him so much. I never missed any of his performances in Kerry after that. I keep thinking we will wake up and discover that it has all been a bad dream and that Christie is playing at Siamsa next Saturday night. May God Bless and comfort his wife and family, it was a privelege to have known him even from a distance and to have been exposed to his talent. Love peace and acceptance to all--Cathy Scannell

I am so sorry to hear of Christie Hennessey’s passing the news truly came as a shock to me.
My dad had bought his cds and I decided to listen to them as a young girl of 11, I fell in love with his music and I would sing all his songs to my family. Years on and I still love his beautiful lyrics and music.

This is such a sad loss to Music and Ireland.

My thoughts and prayers to Christies family.

God Bless Christie

I am a great lover of your songs. Your lyrics mean so much. Singing is about story telling and you were a brilliant narrator. I always sing your song "If you were to fall" to my family and friends when we get together for sing songs. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful gift with us. Siobhan xx

How sad I was to hear of Christie’s sad passing, I first saw him when he toured with Jimmy Nail at the Cambridge Corn exchange, what an impression his voice and music made on me enough to make be buy every album I could lay my hands on. and become hooked.

I was fortunate enough to meet Christie and listen to his music at Coleshill Tennis Club (Grimstock Folk Club) in the early eighties when he made an appearance. Christie was the most humble and gentle of men that I have ever met, leaving everlasting memories of his rendition of ’The Galway Shawl’ in his inimitable lilting Irish voice.
I am so sad that Christie has passed on, but his music and singing, thankfully, live on through Cd’s and the media.
Christie was one of God’s own, with the voice of an angel.
Always to be remembered, never to be forgotten. R.I.P.

Listened to Christie for years and put him away, as you sometimes do. Recently I have taken him back out of the drawer again. What a fantastic talent and what a fantastic story. Hopefully somebody somewhere has a drawer full of his stuff we haven’t heard before. Sadly missed.

Christie had a natural talent for creating words and music and embodying real emotion and feeling in his songs and tunes. His were the songs that remained in the sub-conscious, playing away in the backwaters of the mind and giving great pleasure throughout the day.

Christie was easy to listen to, speaking, or singing. He left no bad vibes; instead he was the soul of politeness and gentleness.

Whatever trials and tribulations he may have had in his life, he overcame them when speaking and singing - and gave much more to the world than he ever took away. It was good to hear and see him; he made people feel warm and good.

Christie was an example of how to behave with dignity and good manners to alla of us, not least other entertainers and a lot of upstarts in that business that have not got a fraction of Christie’s talent or human qualities and niceness.

I hope to hear a lot more of his very talented daughter, Hermione, in the future.

Christie is now in a bettrer place and reaping the reward of his life’s work.

He will be remembered with fond memories, and admiration for his human qualities.
